ABOUT ME
For the past 15 years Paul Di Prospero has been dedicated to fighting for fair, respectful and safe working conditions for workers in every sector. In partnership with teachers, unions, community groups and politicians Paul has made great strides forward in the fight for the rights all workers deserve.
Serving on the Toronto Secondary Unit (TSU) Executive since 2016, he continues to be a devoted and consistent voice for teachers at every opportunity, always pushing for a more open and transparent association for all members in which to be welcomed and take part.
Paul was on the front line at his local school where he strongly advocated against the closure of the Resource room. In partnership with other dedicated teachers, Paul successfully fought those closures and ensured those students continued to receive the academic support they needed.

At TSU, Paul continues to engage new teachers through his work with the Beginning Teachers Committee and NTIP, helping to strengthen TSU’s membership with informed and passionate members.

Through his unparalleled knowledge of emerging technology Paul consistently provides expert assistance to the Joint Technology table at the board on joint and new policies, including acceptable use policy review and video communication for distance learning – a policy that is now more important than ever.

In 2005, Paul started his Labour Activism as an active member of Cupe Local 79 and quickly took on the demanding role of union steward, representing City of Toronto Recreation Workers. Not long after, he led recreation workers on the picket line for 6 weeks in the summer of 2009, proving himself to be a steadfast spokesperson for workers’ rights. Paul continues to prove himself a loyal representative as he recently took part in the initial stages of the latest collective agreement between the City of Toronto and Local 79.

Thanks to his start in education as an elementary school teacher, Paul built strong relationships with our Brothers and Sisters at the Toronto Elementary Catholic Teachers Unit when he served on the North York-Subunit Executive. His ability to maintain such strong relationships with his fellow workers is yet another example of his stalwart approach to fighting for workers’ rights.

Paul continues to work in and for his community to this day as he remains active with The Wilson Village Business Improvement Area as their Project Co-ordinator. Working with City of Toronto officials, local business owners and community residents, Paul has successfully overseen a new masterplan to beautify streetscapes along on Wilson Avenue in North York. This project will not only contribute to the well-being of local residents but will also boost success in the business community by helping create a beautiful and sustainable community in Toronto.

Paul Di Prospero has always used his voice to fight for the rights of workers everywhere and he will continue to do so for teachers at the TSU office.

On May 28, 2020, Vote Paul Di Prospero for TSU 2nd Vice President for a voice that’s putting teachers first.
